We Called It THE VMAs, But Today It’s Fail-MAs

Growing up in the 90s, I gotta admit that if I would compare (and they really should be compared), the following performances after 2009 are horseshit. Can’t use apeshit since I have used it in a previous entry already. *evil laugh*

Let’s start with the opening.

I thought they were not in good terms, but to hell with it.

Opening songs/performance – It should be catchy. It’s the icebreaker (feeling music analyst). People should jump out of their seats. People should shit bricks and rainbows. People should be surprised. It should be a matter of life and death performance (that people would talk about for years); just because Taytay and Nicki were not in good terms days before the performance – I think they used this one. But it’s not something that people will talk about for years. It’s not something valuable to the music industry. It should be a celebration of music and not a quick fix. It basically should be like this:

I know, I know. It’s Michael Jackson and Slash but, there would be a better performance that I think would show vindication. The ones I could think of for this year is:

  1. Taylor Swift singing Bad Blood back to back with Walk the Moon’s Shut Up and Dance
  2. Walk the Moon’s Shut Up and Dance back to back with The Weeknd’s Can’t Feel My Face
  3. Walk the Moon’s Shut Up and Dance back to back with OMI’s Cheerleader
  4. Walk the Moon’s Shut Up and Dance back to back with OMI’s Cheerleader back to back with Bruno Mars’ Uptown Funk

See, there are a lot of choices. Why this one?

The audience – It wasn’t as good as before because the kings and queens of music were not present. You would really feel the value of the artists when there are other co-artists willing and wasting time to take a seat upfront of the arena to be excited for this awards show. The whole time that I was watching I kept on saying, “Where’s JT?  Usher? Beyonce? Jay-Z? Madonna? Maroon 5? Ed Sheeran? Red Hot?” and many more.

The nominees – I’m sorry but like 50% of the nominees does not ring a bell

The presentors –  I’m sorry but like 30% of the presentors does not ring a bell (copy, paste and edit)

The fashion – I’m sorry but like 10% of the outfits does ring a bell for someone who took a medication of Shawshank pills (copy, paste and edit part 2)

Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award – I am not going to disagree with the recipient but he should have rocked it out with a performance other than a very indefinite but longing candidacy speech.

Of course the best performance and speech of this recipient for me is:

He really showed how rightful he is for this award.

Which EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE DONE.
